Woodblock Architecture is a commercial architecture firm located in downtown Portland, OR. Woodblock was founded in early 2015 by four friends who worked together for a number of years in the corporate space where they were focused on servicing one niche commercial sector. That experience allowed them the opportunity to develop a shared vision for what a firm actually should be. We are rooted in the ideal that good design is built from great relationships and respecting the work-life balance. The goal is not to mass produce a showcase of the work we have done, but instead to focus on the clients we serve and the people who occupy the spaces we design.

It’s this notion that lead us to abandon the industry norm of focusing on one market sector, or to even work under a specific design aesthetic and instead, focus on developing a strong reputation for excellent client service across a broad range of project types and scales. We span across the commercial umbrella, with work including restaurant, brewery, office, hospitality, industrial and we even dabble in a little residential when your sister-in-law’s, brother’s cousin comes calling.

Really it comes down to loving what we do and the relationships we make. We believe the process should be fun and collaborative because ultimately we’re helping to craft our client’s goals into a vision of their own and turning it into reality…and we think that’s pretty awesome.
