- My director in Seattle suggested I join and my cousin in Minneapolis suggested I attend the fireside chat where Allison Beddard spoke because my cousin had worked with Allison at Cushman and Wakefield.
- What motivated you to join CREW Portland?
- Networking, Business Development, Meet Inspiring People. I am grateful to work for a company who sponsored my membership dues.
- How did you get here?
- My undergraduate degree in Packaging from Michigan State University led me to designing packaging for Hewlett Packard. At HP I moved into Mechanical Design for ink jet printers and was fortunate to receive a fellowship from HP to complete my Master’s Degree in Mechanical Systems focusing on accessible design at the University of Texas at Austin. I returned to HP as a Mechanical Designer and Manufacturing Engineer. After taking time away from the paid workforce to with my young children, I returned to HP as a contract test engineer. When my contract completed, I spent time helping my aging parents and then made a career pivot to Strategic Energy Management where I learned about how buildings use energy at both Goodwill Industries of the Columbia Willamette who owns all of their buildings, and Portland Community College who also has a large portfolio of buildings. While I was at PCC, with help from the Energy Trust of Oregon, I received my Building Operators Certification Level 1 from the BOC at Lane Community College. My Mechanical controls experience and work in SEM prepared me for my current position as a building Commissioning Agent for Glumac.
