The OHSU/OUS Collaborative Life Sciences Building is a joint effort between three of Oregon's top universities, Oregon Health & Science University, Oregon State University and Portland State University. This facility will house portions of these institutions under one roof, expanding the existing partnerships between the universities, as well as their teaching facilities, class sizes, research activities and creating new employment opportunities.
Anticipated to achieve LEED Platinum Certification, this unique $295 million, 650,000 gross square foot building will include lecture halls, classrooms, labs, specialty research centers, OHSU School of Dentistry facilities, and offices for health professionals and undergraduate and graduate education involving students and instructors from multiple institutions.
This program will include a tour of a portion of the building and a close-up look at JE Dunn's real time/ paperless construction process. Since the building is still under construction, there are strict safety requirements that must be followed:
  • No opened toed shoes.  Shoes must have ankle support.
  • Shirts must cover the shoulder
  • Pants must  be worn – no shorts or dresses
Hard hats and eye protection will be provided and are required to be worn.  If you are not dressed appropriately, you will be allowed to sit in on the technology overview, but you will not be allowed to tour the building.  Note that this is an active construction site so you will be required to walk over loose gravel and up 3 flights of stairs.
Upon the completion of the tour, we will head over to McCormick and Schmick's Harborside Restaurant for networking, drinks, and hors d'oeuvres.
