The Forecast Breakfast is CREW Portland's premier annual event. It provides a forum for economist and real estate professionals to discuss current issues affecting the commercial real estate market and make predictions for the coming year. Attendance for this event usually tops 250 and draws press coverage.
 

 
 
CRAIG WESSEL, The Portland Business Journal
Craig has been the publisher of The Portland Business Journal for the past 10 years and has been involved in the newspaper and magazine publishing industry for 24 years including time as Director of Marketing for Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal, a national trade publication serving the sports industry; publisher of Corporate Report Minnesota magazine, a national award winning statewide business magazine;  Minnesota Ventures, a small business magazine serving the state of Minnesota;  president and owner of a publishing consulting firm in Santa Monica, California, which served trade publications across the country; and with American City Business Journals where, as Director of Development, he was involved in the launch of more than 15 regional business newspapers.

 
Wessel has an undergraduate degree in International Finance from the University of Georgia, a certificate in Composing and Arranging from the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, and has completed several courses of study in publishing industry related seminars, conferences and symposiums. He currently serves on the boards of the Classic Wines Auction, Junior Achievement and Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation.
 
LAURALEE MARTIN, CEO of the Americas, Jones Lang LaSalle.
Ms. Martin is CEO of the Americas  for Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated, the leading integrated global real estate services and money management firm. Lauralee transitioned to the position of CEO of the Americas at Jones Lang LaSalle effective January 1, 2013. She will be focused on driving client services, increasing productivity and investing in the people at JLL”. She originally joined the firm as Chief Financial Officer in January 2002 and was given expanded responsibilities in 2005 to become Chief Financial and Operating Officer.

 
Experience - Prior to joining Jones Lang LaSalle, Ms. Martin was CFO of Heller Financial Inc., where she was involved in both the company’s initial public offering in 1998 and its successful sale of the company to General Electric Capital in 2001.  Ms. Martin also served as Heller’s Group President – Real Estate Finance for three years before she became a Senior Group President, overseeing Real Estate Finance as well as three other business units.  She previously worked at GE Capital for 10 years heading its mortgage banking and construction lending divisions. 
 
Education and Affiliations - Ms. Martin earned a B.A. from Oregon State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut.  She serves on the boards of Jones Lang LaSalle, HCP and Kaiser Aluminum and is a Trustee of the Urban Land Institute and a Trustee of the ICSC.  She is a member of the Executives’ Club, and The Chicago Network.
 
JOHN MITCHELL, M & H Economic Consultants
John Mitchell received his B.A. degree from Williams College and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Oregon. He is a fellow of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oregon and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He was a professor of economics at Boise State University for 13 years, before joining U.S. Bancorp in July of 1983. He was Chief Economist of U.S. Bancorp until July of 1998 and served as Economist Western Region for US Bank until July of 2007. He wrote US. Bancorp’s regional publications including the Update, The Business Barometer, Northwest Portrait, US Territory, Oregon Tidbits, and was a columnist for Oregon Business Magazine. He currently speaks to conventions and business groups around the nation and writes Sterling Savings Bank’s economic newsletter. He was a business analyst for KPTV in Portland. He has been making economic presentations on the nation and the region for 40 years.

 
SUSIE LAHSENE, Senior Manager Transportation and Land Use Policy, Port of Portland 

Susie Lahsene is Senior Manager for Transportation and Land Use Policy for the Port of Portland, Oregon. She manages land use policy and transportation capital strategy and fund acquisition for the Port’s transportation system, terminals and industrial land base.  She is currently managing the annexation and land use planning for 800+ acres of property into the City of Portland for the Port.  She chairs the Oregon’s Statewide Freight Advisory Committee (OFAC) and sits on the board of BEST- Building the Economy through Sustainable Transportation. She also chairs Transportation Research Board (TRB) Freight Modeling subcommittee, SHRP-2 Freight Modeling and Data Innovation Strategic Planning efforts and is past chair of TRB’s Urban Freight Committee.
  
Susie, originally from the Washington DC area, moved to Oregon in the late 70’s after graduate school.  Her interest in Oregon was prompted from studying Senate Bill 100 in a class on citizen involvement.  She holds a B.A. degree in Urban Studies and a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning ( MURP), both from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg Virginia, and an M.B.A. from the University of Portland.  Susie has authored several articles and studies on industrial land, freight transportation, economics, supply chain and freight demand forecasting.
